With Nanowrimo coming up next month, right now seemed like an ideal time for a Friending Meme for Writers! That said, you don't have to be participating in Nanowrimo to be a part of the Friending Meme, you just have to be a writer, author, fanficcer, person who likes to write, whatever you want to call yourself. LJ may not be the social hub that it used to be, but I know I'm still here, and I would love to have more writer friends to chat with, brainstorm with, and just generally support in our writing endeavors :))

So, you probably know the drill: copy and paste the form below into a new comment on this post, and fill in the form. If you see someone you'd like to be friends with in another comment, reply to their comment and see how you click!

First of all, holy crap, Nanowrimo is soon. It's a good thing I know what I'm doing, and know quite a bit about what I'm doing, because it really snuck up on me. September seemed to go by really fast, at least for me.

My Nanowrimo ProjectCollapse )

And some updates on other writing projects:
Ocean, Dark and DeepCollapse )

Untitled ProjectCollapse )

Yeah, so, right now, pre-Nanowrimo, my goal is to get revisions done on Rotting Beauty! I seriously have been so bad and not worked on them at all in like, a month. I'm revising for description right now, which I seriously HATE doing. But, it must be done. And then I'm one done with description, I basically just need to edit for grammar and word choice and little nitpicky things, I think. Oh, and get my query letter together? I have sort of a rough draft of it, but like, really, really rough.

Otherwise, I'm just waiting for the Nanowrimo Forums to reset, which I'm always really excited for! Usually they've reset by now, so hopefully it'll be like, any minute now?

Everything under the cuts are spoilery, unless I specifically say they're not. The spoilery material under the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. cut also contains some theorizing on my part, which is not necessarily spoilery since, you know, it's my speculation and not anything confirmed, but it does involve comic book information, and you're so anti-spoiler that you don't even like to read likely theories, you might want to avoid.

Once Upon A Time, 4.1Collapse )

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. 2.2Collapse )

Reign - not spoileryCollapse )

And my Grimm RewatchCollapse )

So that's about it. I haven't seen Castle, Forever, or Hawaii Five-O yet this week. I have seen Sleepy Hollow and Grey's Anatomy, so if you want to discuss anything about those shows, feel free to comment!

Hey everyone! Happy to report I am feeling much better, and had a pretty great birthday. Thanks so much for all the well wishes!

I'm hoping to get a longer post out later about what I've been up to, and I also want to catch up on everyone else's posts in the last several days, but for now, I just wanted to post my updated reading list. (I feel like I just posted the last one - September really flew by!)

To-Read List for October - November
1. The Wicked Day by Mary Stewart
2. House of Hades by Rick Riordan (re-read)
3. Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan
4. Scarlet and Lady Thief by A. C. Gaughen
5. Gawain and the Green Knight
7. Raven Boys and Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater
8. Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater
9. Gwenyhwyfar by Mercedes Lackeyy
10. A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
11. M. K. Hume's King Arthur Trilogy
12. Queen of Camelot by Nancy McKenzie

Whew! That looks like a lot, but I intend to skim-reread House of Hades, and I will likely devour Maggie's 3 books (including the two rereads) very quickly. And Gawain and the Green Knight is incredibly short; I can probably sit down and read it in about an hour.

Today has been not so great. I'm terribly tired and have a horrible migraine that has been popping in and out for the past several days. I usually call out sick when I have a bad migraine, but I'd had to call out sick just a couple of weeks ago, and I have so much to do at work today so I came in anyway. I did pop a couple of Excedrin, which seem to have helped, but I'm still so, so tired. I had a really busy weekend (mostly awesome, but busy), and I don't think I've been sleeping well, for some reason, so I'm just exhausted. I just really need a good day's rest, or at the very least, an evening - which I won't get until Wednesday, as I have CCE to teach at church tonight, and my birthday tomorrow, which we'll probably go out to eat for (which, you know, I want to do, but I also just want to sleep). Luckily, I have my usual 3 day weekend at the end of the week, and not much to do, so that'll be nice. I just need to make it that long.

Anyway. I kind of just wanted to check in and say hey, still here, just very busy and tired. I have a lot to post about (Once Upon A Time! Memes! My awesome weekend! Nanowrimo, which is coming up soon!). So hopefully I can get around to that in a couple of days.

30 Days of Female Characters:
Day One: Favorite lead female character
Day Two: Favorite supporting female character
Day Three: A female character you hated but grew to love
Day Four: A female character you relate to
Day Five: Favorite female character on a male-driven show
Day Six: Favorite female-driven show
It's kind of sad, but I can't think of many truly female-driven shows! Although maybe I'm just not really sure what that means. I'm going with Grey's Anatomy (see, which to me I would call an ensemble, rather than a female-driven show, but maybe I'm wrong).

Day Seven: A female character that needs more screen time
Ruby on Once Upon A Time! I'm not even really sure if she's technically on the show anymore - I think she is now, since that other show she was on was cancelled. Either way, she definitely needs more screen time. Then again, so do a lot of characters on that show.

Day Eight: Favorite female character in a comedy show
Day Nine: Favorite female character in a drama show
Day Ten: Favorite female character in a scifi/supernatural show
Day Eleven: Favorite female character in a children’s show
Day Twelve: Favorite female character in a movie
Day Thirteen: Favorite female character in a book
Day Fourteen: Favorite older female character
Day Fifteen: Favorite female character growth arc
Day Sixteen: Favorite mother character
Day Seventeen: Favorite warrior female character
Day Eighteen: Favorite non-warrior female character
Day Nineteen: Favorite non-human female character
Day Twenty: Favorite female antagonist
Day Twenty-One: Favorite female character screwed over by canon
Day Twenty-Two: Favorite female character you love but everyone else hates
Day Twenty-Three: Favorite female platonic relationship
Day Twenty-Four: Favorite female romantic relationship
Day Twenty-Five: Favorite mother/daughter and/or sister relationship
Day Twenty-Six: Favorite classical female character (from pre-20th century literature or mythology or the like)
Day Twenty-Seven: A female character you have extensive personal canon for
Day Twenty-Eight: Favorite female writer (television, books, movies, etc.)
Day Twenty-Nine: A female-centric fic rec
Day Thirty: Whatever you’d like!

I have to catch up on the female characters meme later, I think I'm a day behind. I don't want to get too behind on my recent reads either, since I've been reading so much lately. I think I will actually not have too much time to read this week, because I have a lot to do at work and at home, so now will be a good time to catch up on my reviews.

So, today I'm looking at Crown of Midnight and Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas, and Misfit by Jon Skovron:

3 Positive Things Meme, Day 4:

1. I bought some new boots today! A few pairs. I ordered them all online, but maybe I'll post some pics once they arrive.
2. I cleaned my place up today, a deep-cleaning - washed my sheets, swept and dusted. It had gotten pretty bad, and I start to feel so stressed out when things are a mess, so I just feel like I can breathe better now - literally and figuratively.
3. I've had so much reading time lately, and am flying through The Crystal Cave trilogy.

30 Days of Female Characters:
Day One: Favorite lead female character
Day Two: Favorite supporting female character
Day Three: A female character you hated but grew to love
There are a lot of those, but I'm going with Kenna from Reign, one of Mary's ladies-in-waiting. She was so shallow and full of herself in the first half of the season, but she started growing more of a brain later on, and after the King forced her to marry Bash, she improved a lot, and became one half of an awesome power couple with Bash.

Day Four: A female character you relate to
For some reason I'm finding it tough to come up with one here, but I'm going to say Agent May from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., because she's quiet, and people (*cough*Skye*cough*) sometimes incorrectly take her silence and focus as a sign that she doesn't care about people. Also, is this an appropriate place to go on a minor rant about how the conflict between Skye and May around midseason came off awfully contrived? My 48-hour rewatch made this more obvious than ever. One episode, they're both giggling about how hot Thor is, the next episode, Skye doesn't like her because she's not all smiles and sunshine all the time? It came out of nowhere.

Day Five: Favorite female character on a male-driven show
Day Six: Favorite female-driven show
Day Seven: A female character that needs more screen time
